I had an opportunity to attend the International Symposium on Online Journalism today and it was nothing short of great.
This was my second year attending and I always learn a lot from the professionals and academics that speak at this symposium. It provides a good mix of both and I believe it is essential for each to see how the theory and practice of journalism help those in the industry and those who study it. I’ll post a full recap of the day soon, but Alfred Hermida, a professor at the University of British Columbia, provided some great and speedy coverage of the panels at his blog http://reportr.net. Of course, the symposium also had great student coverage of the event as well, which you can see at http://online.journalism.utexas.edu/. I hope to attend again next year and learn more from all the great attendees.
